A food truck sold 1/6 of it’s soda cans before noon it then sold 3/5 of the remaining cans . The food truck sold 72 cans in all . How many soda cans did the truck start with

Explanation:

Let the number of cans the truck starts with be R. Hence given that 1/6 of the soda cans were sold before noon, the remaining amount

= R - 1/6 R

= 5/6 R

If it then sold 3/5 of the remaining cans,the reminder after this sale

= 5/6 R - 3/5 * 5/6 R

= 5/6 R - 1/2 R

Where 1/2 R represents the quantity sold, the reminder after this sale

= 1/3 R

if the food truck sold 72 cans in all then,

1/6 R + 1/2 R = 72

2/3 R = 72

R = 72 * 3/2

= 108
