Answer:

Total area of the flag is 9.375 feet in decimal form.

Total area of the flag is 75/8 feet in fraction form

Total area of the flag is 9 3/8 feet in mixed fraction form

Explanation:

No of panel's of Fabric = 3

Length of each panel = 2 1/2 feet

converting mixed fraction into normal fraction 2 1/2 = (2*2 + 1)/2 = 5/2

Length of each panel = 5/2 feet

__________________________________________

Width of each panel = 1 1/4 feet

converting mixed fraction into normal fraction 1 1/4 = (1*4 + 1)/4 = 5/4

Width of each panel = 5/4 feet .\

______________________________________

area of rectangle is given by length * width

since panel is rectangular

Area of one panel = Length of each panel * Width of each panel

substituting value of length and width we have

Area of one panel = 5/2 * 5/4 = 25/8 square feet.

Area of 3 panel = 3 * 25/8 square feet = 75/8 feet = 9.375 feet

Area of 3 panel in mixed fraction = 9 3/8 feet.

Total area of the flag is 9.375 feet
