A farmer sells 8.8 kilograms of apples and pears at the farmer's market. 1/4 of this weight is apples, and the rest is pears. How many kilograms of pears did she sell at the farmer's market?

Answer: 6.6 kg

Explain.
If the total weight of the produce 8.8kg and the weight of the apples makes up 1/4 of that total weight then you subtract that amount from the total weight. 1/4 of 8.8 is 2.2 and you can double check this by finding the product of 2.2 and 4 or by finding the quotient of 8.8 divided by 4.
