y2 - 10y + 16
( y - 2)( y - 8 )

y • y = y2
-2 + ( -8 ) = -10
-2 • -8 = 6

= y2 - 10y + 16

to clarify your other factor is ( y - 8 )

Answer:

The other factor is (y - 8)

Explanation:

y² - 10y + 16

Sum = -10

Product = 16

Factors = (-8) ; (-2)

y² - 10y +16 = y² - 8y -2y + (-8)*(-2)

= y(y - 8) - 2(y - 8)

= (y - 8) (y - 2)
