Explanation:

First you need to distribute: 3x+8x-12=8x+1

Now you need to simply: 11x-12=8x+1

Now you need to get x alone: First you need to combine both x’s from each side, 3x-12=1

Now move the 12 to the other side, 3x=13

And finally to get x alone, divide each side by 3, x=4.3 repeating or 4 1/3 (13/3)
