Y = prize money
$100,000 is the money you get
30% is deducted from Y
Solving for Y
Convert 30% to decimal form
Divide 30% by 100%
30%/100% = 0.3
Now, solve the equation.
100,000 = Y - 0.3Y
100,000 = 0.7Y
100,000 = 7Y/10
Y = 1,000,000/7
Y =
$142,857.14
