Mean: 78

Explanation: the mean is the average number in a data set, meaning you have to add all of the numbers and divide by the number of values (86 + 75 + 97 + 58 + 94 + 58) / 6

Median: 80.5

Explanation: The median is the value that separates the higher half from the lower half in a data set. in this case, you have to order the numbers least to greatest and since there is an even amount of numbers, you take the two middle ones and find the average of the two. (75 + 86) / 2

Mode: 58

Explanation: the mode is the value that appears most frequently in a data set, in this case it is 58

Part B: Maria’s social studies teacher should use the mode of the exam scores to convince Maria that she needs to study my regularly for her exams because it is the lowest score

Answer:

Below in bold.

Explanation:

Arrange the scores in ascending order:

58 58 75 86 94 97

A. The mean = (58+58 +75+ 86+ 94+ 97)/6

= 468/6

= 78.

The median = (75+ 86)/2 = 80.5.

The mode = 58.

B. She should use the mode as it is the lowest score.
