On the first day of a measles outbreak at a school, 6 students were identified to have the

measles. Each day for the following two weeks, the number of new cases doubled from those
identified with the disease the day prior.
How many students are identified to have measles in all at the end of the 6th day of the outbreak?

378 kids have measles on the 6th day of the outbreak.

We know that on the starting day that 6 students were identified with measles, and that the next day the number doubles. So I created an equation that would add up the total of all the kids who have measles.

6 + 12 + 24 + 48 + 96 + 192

There are six numbers because there are six days, and once we add all of those up we will get 378, which means the answer is that 378 kids have measles on the 6th day of the outbreak.
