ABCD and PQRS are rectangles.

O is the centre of both rectangles.
AC is a straight line passing through P, O and R.
BD is a straight line passing through Q, O and S.
PQ = 8 cm and QR = 2 cm.
The perimeter of rectangle ABCD is 60 cm.
Work out the length of AB and the length of BC.

Answer:

AB+BC = 60/2 =30 (1)

Using Thales theorem

AB/PQ = OB/OQ

BC/QR = OB/OQ

=> AB/PQ =BC/QR

=> AB/BC =PQ/QR=8/2=4 (2)

From (1) and (2) => 4BC + BC = 30

=> BC = 6

=> AB =30-6 =24
