f(x) = x2 - 12x + 35

Set equal to zero

0 = x^2 - 12x + 35

What two numbers multiply to 35 and add to -12

-5 * -7 = 35

-5+-7 = -12

(x-5) (x-7) =0

Using the zero product property

x-5 =0 x-7 =0

x=5 x=7
