Answer: A: you have it: 27 × 27 = 729

part B: 7850 square nautical miles.

part C: 277 square inches.

Explanation:

Part b: The diameter of the circle is given as 24 inches. the scale is based on 6 inches. 24 ÷ 6 = 4 Each 6 inches represents 25 nautical miles.

4 × 25 = 100. The 24 inch diameter represents a width of 100 naut miles.

The Area of a circle is pi times the radius squared. the radius is half of the diameter, so 50. To find the area of the circle, use the formula A= πr²

50 squared is 2500. Multiply that by a common value for pi, 3.14

2500 × 3.14 = 7850 square nautical miles

Part C

To find the area of this circle, use the formula A= πr² again

The diameter is given as 24 inches, half of the diameter is the radius, so 12.

12 squared (that's 12 × 12) is 144. multiply that by a common value for pi. 3.14 × 144 = 452.16 square inches

You already have the area of the square base from part A, 729 square inches. Subtract the area of the circular screen.

729 - 452.16 = 276.84 Round up to the nearest square inch:

277 square inches.
