In order from sea to land:

  1. Belgian gates: 10-ft high steel structures with antitank mines on top. Set parallel to the beach.
  2. Teller mines: Mines angled on posts angled seaward.
  3. Ramps: Mine-tipped logs, in the sand in a ramp shape.
  4. Hedgehogs: The classic 6-ft high obstacles welded of steel rails. Would rip the bottom out of landing craft.
  5. Barbed wire, minefields: To slow infantry and tanks down, and possibly cause damage.
  6. Pillboxes: Small concrete bunkers protecting machine gun or anti-tank nests.
  7. Natural cliffs: Self-explanatory. Hundereds of feet tall.
  8. Conrete bunkers: Made of steel-reinforced concrete, with 75 and 88 mm guns.
