Answer:The most common way for a case to reach the Supreme Court is on appeal from a circuit court. A party seeking to appeal a decision of a circuit court can file a petition to the Supreme Court for a writ of certiorari. ... The Court will only issue a writ if four of the nine Justices vote to do so.

So, here’s the simple answer. Sometimes when people don’t like the verdict of their trial they apply for an appeal. Depending on how serious the offense, they will move up to a higher court. The accused and their defense team can apply for appeal if their case keeps loosing, but they will not always be allowed after multiple appeals. This is one way you can go from trial court to Supreme Court.
