Answer:

The speed of the motorcycle is 62 miles per hour and of the car is 72 miles per hour.

Explanation:

The equation for the velocity is given by:

v = (d)/(t)

In which d is the distance and t is the time.

Motorcycle:

Velocity v, d = 248. Then

v = (248)/(t)

Car:

Velocity v+10, d = 288. Then

v + 10 = (288)/(t)

From the first equation:

v = (248)/(t)

vt = 248

t = (248)/(v)

Replacing in the second:

v + 10 = (288)/(t)

v + 10 = (288)/((248)/(v))

v + 10 = (288v)/(248)

288v = 248(v + 10)

288v = 248v + 2480

40v = 2480

v = (2480)/(40)

v = 62

The speed of the motorcycle is 62 miles per hour and of the car is 72 miles per hour.
