The line y=mx+c passes through the point (4,3). It is parallel to the line y=5x+6. Work out the values of m and c.

Answer:

The figure alongside (not drawn on scale) represents lines y = x + 1 and y = 3 x – 1. ... Then EXERCISE 11 ( d) 18. ... 4. What will be the value of m and c if the straight line y = mx + c passes through the points

since the two lines are parallel, m = 5
=> c:
y = mx+c
3 = 5(4) + c
3 = 20 + c
-20 + 3 = c
-17 = c
