Explanation:

For the fist one in order to find the ratio you'll need to turn 1/5 into a ratio which is simple. Then in order to do the second one you need to divide 55 by 5 because of the ratio. After that you subtract 55 by what you got from dividing.

If 1/5 of the slabs are grey, then 4/5 of the slabs are yellow.

a) 1 : 4

For every 1 grey slab, there are 4 yellow slabs.

b) 44 yellow slabs

x / 55 = 4 / 5

220 = 5x

x = 44
