Answer:

Most elements are metals. This group includes the alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition metals, basic metals, lanthanides (rare earth elements), and actinides. Although separate on the periodic table, the lanthanides and actinides are really specific types of transition metals.

Alkali: In chemistry, an alkali which means "ashes of the saltwort " is a basic, ionic salt of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal chemical element. An alkali also can be defined as a base that dissolves in water. A solution of a soluble base has a pH greater than 7.0.

Alkaine: Strong alkaline solution having a pH of 12.6 is considered to represent the alkalinity of concrete. Alkaline water is the most recommended type of water for consumption as it helps to balance the ph levels of the body.

Transition metals: In chemistry, the term transition metal has three possible meanings: The IUPAC definition defines a transition metal as "an element whose atom has a partially filled d sub-shell, or which can give rise to cations with an incomplete d sub-shell". Many scientists describe a "transition metal" as any element in the d-block of the periodic table, which includes groups 3 to 12 on the periodic table.

Basic metals: Metals. In the periodic table, you can see a stair-stepped line starting at Boron (B), atomic number 5, and going all the way down to Polonium (Po), atomic number 84. Except for Germanium (Ge) and Antimony (Sb), all the elements to the left of that line can be classified as metals.

Lathanines: The lanthanides are a group of 15 chemical elements, with atomic numbers 57 through 71. All of these elements have one valence electron in the 5d shell. The elements share properties in common with the first element in the group -- lanthanum. The lanthanides are reactive, silver-colored metals.

Actinides: The actinide (IUPAC nomenclature) series encompasses the 15 metallic chemical elements with atomic numbers from 89 to 103, actinium through lawrencium.

Hope this helps!
