C. Dred Scott v. Sanford
Dred Scott and is master, Peter Blow moves from Alabama to Missouri. Years later, Blow died and Scott was sold to John Emerson and was taken to Illinois
They later spent a round over a decade in Missouri, and Emerson wanted to go back to Missouri but Scott refused. He stated that he was free because Illinois outlawed slavery.
It was then brought to the Supreme Court. And they declared that he had no claim and cannot she since Scott’s race was not a citizen. Resulting him to return to being a slave.
