A train has 6 identical passenger cars that are each 18 m long.

The train's caboose is 10 m long.
The train is twice as long as a truck driving next to it. What is
the length of the truck?

Explanation:

No of passenger cars in the train = 6

length of each passenger cars = 18m

total length of 6 passenger cars = 18 * 6 = 108 m

length of caboose = 10m

total length of train when caboose is included = 108 m + 10 m = 118m

Let the length of truck be X m

given that length of train is twice of length of truck = 2*X

but length of train as found above is 118 m

this implies

2X = 118

X = 118/2 = 59m

Therefore length of truck is 59m
