Considering the different types of atoms (metals and nonmetals) and the sharing, or give/take of valence electrons, describe the differences between covalent bonding and ionic bonding with respect to the types of atoms that undergo each and how their valence electrons interact.

Covalent bonding is the sharing of electrons by two non-metal atoms in order to gain more stability (a full electron shell). Whereas, ionic bonding is when a metal gives an electron to a non-metal is order to make both of them stable.
