Social polarization
This has to do with the segregation in a society where there are wide gaps in income, fluctuations in real estate and social group differentiation.
Political polarization
This has to do with the indidivual values which a person has about certain issues that reflects his affiliation to a political party.
In both instances, it appears that there is worse social polarization now than before due to the Technological age, and in political polarization, I'm not sure if there's a tangible difference between the past and now.
