Aubra and Tony are rounding the number 1.65 to the nearest tenth. On a number line they see 1.65 is exactly halfway between 1.6 and 1.7. Aubra says to round to the greater value 1.7. Tony says that because 1.65 is in the middle you can round to either value. Who is right?

Answer:

Simple, Aubra because if it’s 5 or greater you round up so you don’t even round it down. So 1.65 rounded to the nearest tenth would round up to 1.7.
