The distance from the top of the tank to the plate is the hypotenuse of the right angled triangle


\sin( \alpha ) = (opp)/(hyp)


\sin(27.5) = (16.5)/(x)


0.6992 = (16.5m)/(x)


x = (16.5)/(0.6992)


x = 23.59m


x = 24m \: (nearest \: \: metres
