If the perimeter of a rectangle is 75 meters, and the length is 1.5 times the

width, find the area of the rectangle in square meters. Round your answer to
two decimal places.
937.50 square meters
8.66 square meters
O 225.00 square meters
527.34 square meters
0 337.50 square meters

the final choice is the correct answer

P = 2 ( L + W )
75 = 2 ( L + W )
37.5 = L + W
37.5 = 1.5W + W
37.5 = 2.5 W
W = 37.5 ÷ 2.5 = 15 m

∵ L = 1.5 W
∴ L = 1.5 x 15 = 22.5 m

A = L W = 15 x 22.5 = 337.5 m²

We know that the perimeter of a rectangle is equal to 2(width) plus 2(length). Then, we can say that the width is equal to x and the length is equal to 1.5x.

Let's solve for x.

75 = 2(x) + 2(1.5x)

75 = 2x + 3x

75 = 5x

x = 15 meters

Let's now find the length and width.

width = x = 15

length = 1.5x = 22.5

Now that we have the length and width, we can find the area. The formula for the area of a rectangle is length x width.

A = 15 x 22.5

A = 337.50 square meters

Hope this helps! :)
