Explanation:

DG is also the hypotenuse. Use the sine ratio. Insert values:


sineX=(opposite)/(hypotenuse)\\\\sin72=(8.2)/(x)

Solve for x. Multiply both sides by x:


x*(sin72)=x*((8.2)/(x) )


x*sin72=8.2

Divide both sides by sin 72:


(x*sin72)/(sin72)=(8.2)/(sin72)


x=(8.2)/(sin72)

Insert into a calculator:


x=8.622

Round to the nearest hundredth:


x=8.62

Done.
