Religion/Faith often comes up as a topic of discussion connected to slavery. Why was that faith so vital to enslaved individuals?

Answer: Faith was so vital to enslaved individuals because it gave them hope, or a sense of security that there was a plan for them. They had to believe their god would find justice for them and carry them to better times.
