Answer:

The Farmers Alliance was an organized agrarian economic movement among American farmers that developed and flourished ca. 1875. ... One of the goals of the organization was to end the adverse effects of the crop-lien system on farmers in the period following the American Civil War.Farmers did not have a lot of money to spend and the stores needed income to pay bills. Farmers' Alliance members were more successful in purchasing farm supplies as a cooperative. Baling twine was one item the Alliances purchased as a group. The National Farmers' Alliance had some political success. The platform also called for a graduated income tax, direct election of Senators, a shorter workweek, restrictions on immigration to the United States, and public ownership of railroads and communication lines. The Populists appealed most strongly to voters in the South, the Great Plains, and the Rocky Mountains.

Hope that was helpful.Thank you!!!
