Case Study #1 Your father-in-law Bob (51 years old) has just learned that he has high cholesterol. His total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides are all elevated. All other lab results are normal and he is otherwise healthy. He does not smoke or drink alcohol. His BMI is 29. He gets very little exercise and has a sedentary job. Most days he has fast food for lunch (burger, fries, large soda). During Sunday dinner, he asked you what changes he could make to his lifestyle to lower his cholesterol. What foods should he eat less of? What functional food could he add to his diet? What would you recommend to Bob?
