Combine like terms which are 3x, 5x
9x-2=3x+9+5x
9x-2=8x+9
Add 2 to both sides
9x-2=3x+9+5x
9x-2+2=8x+9+2
Simplify
9x=8x+11
Subtract 8x from both sides
9x=8x+11
9x-8x=8x+11-8x
X=11

9x - 2 = 3x + 9 + 5x
9x - 3x - 5x = 2 + 9
x = 11
