6x + 8y = -22

x = 3

y = -5

Explanation:

Since you have the value of y already, just plug it into the equation, like so:

6x + 8y = -22

6x + 8(-5) = -22

6x - 40 = -22

Add 40 to both sides:

6x - 40 = -22

+ 40 + 40

___________

6x = 18

Finally, divide both sides by 6:

6x = 18

x = 3

So now you have, x = 3 and y = -5.
