Explanation:

Solve for x


x^(2) - 5x + 6 = 0

Now factor


(x - 2)(x - 3) <--- It would be -2 and -3 because they add up to -5 and multiply to be 6 (a negative times a negative always equal a positive)

Don't forget that it's still equal to 0


(x-2)=0
(x-3)=0

Now solve for x in both equations


x-2=0
x-3=0


+2
+2 add 2 to both sides
+3
+3 add 3 to both sides


x=2
x = 3
