find the missing number in the proportion 3/7 =x/28

The automobile insurance company receives 18 calls in 6 hours. how many calls do they received in 11 hours? with solving proportions

x=12

33 calls

Explanation:

For 3/7 = x/28

Cross multiply. 3•28 = 7x

Seriously just use a calculator. But if you're not allowed to, then go ahead and do the next step which is divide by 7.

(3•28)/7 = x

The 28/7 is just 4.

You still have the 3.

3•4 = x

12 = x

SECONDLY,

Compare

calls/hour= calls/hour

18/6 = c/11

18/6 can be simplified. It is 3/1.

3/1 = c/11

Crossmultiply.

3•11 = 1c

33 = c

The call center will get 33 calls in 11 hours.

84 = 7x

Divide By 7 on both sides

12 = x
