In a taste test, 50 participants are randomly given a beverage to sample.

There are 20 samples of Drink A, 10 samples of Drink B, 10 samples of Drink
C, and 10 samples of Drink D. Write the probability of a participant NOT
sampling Drink A.

Explanation:

of the 50 participants 20 of them will get drink A. This probability is 20/50 which simplified is 2/5. The other 30 participants will get drinks B, C, or D. As a fraction this is equal to 30/50 or 3/5. Therefore the probability of a participant not sampling drink A is 3/5.

Answer:

20 out of the 50 participants are assigned to consume Drink A.

However, it is asking us the probability that a participant did NOT consume Drink A, so there are 30 participants that consumed another drink.

The probability is 30/50, or 60%, that a participant did not sample Drink A.
