Answer:

Given:-

  • Length of rectangular garden is 2m longer than its width
  • Area of Rectangular garden is 80m²

To Find :-

  • Dimensions of Rectangular garden

Solution:-

  • Let the width be x and length be x + 2

According to the question ,

Area = 80m²

putting the known values ,

(X)(X+2) = 80m

x² +2x - 80= 0

x² +10x-8x -80m= 0

x(x + 10) - 8(x+10) = 0

(x-8) = 0 ; (x+10) = 0

X = 8 ; X = -10

  • As dimensions can not be negative so , X = 8

Length = X + 2 ; 10 m

Width = X ; 8 m

Answer:

  • Length of rectangle = 10 m
  • Width of the Rectangle = 8 m

Explanation:

Given :-

  • Length of a Rectangular garden is 2m greater than the width .
  • Area of garden = 80 m²

To Find :-

  • Dimensions of the garden

Solution :-

Let's assume:

  • Width of the rectangle = x
  • Length of the rectangle = x + 2

We know that,

  • Area of rectangle = Length × Width

↠ (x)(x + 2) = 80

↠ x² + 2x - 80 = 0

↠ x² + 2x - 80 = 0

↠ x² + 10x - 8x - 80 = 0

↠ x(x +10) -8 (x + 10) = 0

↠ (x-8) (x + 10) = 0

↠ x = 8 or -10

↠ x = 8

Hence,

  • Width of the rectangle = x = 8 m
  • Length of the rectangle = x + 2 = 10 m
