Answer:

13,3km is nearest 10th ( which is the same for 1dp 13.3km) (13.32km 2dp)

Explanation:

Horizontal distance is need for Pythagoras

Reading measurements given left to right we find;

c-b = a

c-b =x

c-a = b

Finding x

5sq - 3sq = xsq

√25 - √9 = √16 = √x

√16 = √x = 4

x = 4

Finding y

7sq - 3sq=ysq

√49-√9=√40 = √y

√40 = √y = 6.32

y = 6.32

Therefore x+y+3 = horizontal distance

4 + 6.32 +3 = 13.32km nearest 10th km is 13.3 km

Answer:

The answer would be 13.3.

Explanation:

Use the Pythagorean theorem to find the other distances in the 5, 3, x triangle and the 7, 3, y triangle and add those two answers together plus 3 to get your answer.
