Answer: The diameter of the DVD is 12 cm.

Explanation:

Given : The area of a DVD =
36\pi\ cm^2

As we know , DVD is circular in shape , so we use the formula of area of a circle here.

Area of circle =
\pi r^2, where r is the radius.

As per given , we get

\pi r^2=36\pi\\\\\Rightarrow\ r^2=36\ [\pi \text{ is cancelled from both sides}]\\\\\Rightarrow\ r=√(36)=6[\text{Dimensions cannot be negative}]

Thus , radius = 6 cm

Also, Diameter = 2r = 2(6)= 12 cm

Hence, the diameter of the DVD is 12 cm.
