Answer:

Apothem=8rt3 in Half of one side=8 in Since the apothem, half-side, and segment extending from the center to the vertex form a right triangle, you have the length and height and can calculate the area. (8* 8rt3) /2 = 32 in square. There are 12 of these triangles so multiply that by 12. You get 384rt3 inches square.
