Answer:

x=-1, y=-7

Explanation:

8x-2y=6

3x+3y=-24

Multiplying the topmost equation by 3/2:

12x-3y=9

3x+3y=-24

Adding the two equations together:

15x=-15

x=-1

Plugging this back into a previous equation:

8(-1)-2y=6

-8-2y=6

-2y=14

y=-7
