Answer:

x= 2

y= -3

Explanation:

The first thing you can do is turn either equation into slope-intercept form that way you have a clear equation for ONE variable. This looks like:

6x+6y=-6

6y= -6x -6 (move the 6x to the other side by subtracting)

y= -x-1 (divide everything by 6 to isolate "y")

so now you have an equation for y, y= -x-1

plug this in for the y variable in the second equation to get your final answer.

5x - 6(-x-1) = 28

5x + 6x +6 = 28 ( all i did was distribute)

11x + 6 = 28 (add like terms)

11x = 22 (subtract 6)

x= 2

now that you know that x = 2, plug that in to either equation to solve for y.

6(2) + 6y = -6

12 + 6y = -6

6y = -18 (i subtracted 12 from both sides)

y = -3

okay, so your final answer is (2, -3) or x= 2 and y= -3

I really hope this was easy to follow.
