A container holds 10 gallons of water. If 5/8 of a gallon is added to the container each hour, how many hours would it take to fill the container?

Answer:

16 hours

Explanation:

Since each hour they do 5/8 of a gallon and there are 10 gallons in total

the amount of time is 10/(5/8) hours

dividing is multiplying by the reciprocal so 10/(5/8)=

10(8/5)=80/5=

16 hours
