Why do you think the Battle of Antietam is the most significant event?(defend your answer)

Answer:

Because it was the Union's first battle won against the Confederates, and Lincoln was waiting for a win to send out his Emancipation Proclamation which freed all slaves legally(it didn't really free any slaves) which changed the motive of the war to end slavery and not to keep the Country United
