Explanation:

The point (5,-5) is at a larger vertical distance than the point (5,-1)

An inequality you can use to prove this would be the following!...


|-5| > |-1|

What this reads, is 'the absolute value of -5 is greater than the absolute value of -1. Since we know distance cannot be negative, we can find the absolute value of a number to show the actual distance!
