Kendra wants to crochet a blanket for her new baby cousin. Her pattern calls for 900 yards of thick, soft wool. She already has 200 feet of wool left from another project. At the craft store, she notices that each ball has 500 feet of wool. How many balls of wool should she buy?

1 yard = 3 feet

900 yards x 3 = 2,700 feet needed

subtract what she has:

2700-200 = 2,500 feet more needed

2,500 / 500 = 5 balls needed

answer: 5
