students in Mr. Allen's class were asked how many minutes it takes them to get to school in the morning. Here is what they answered:
4, 14, 11, 9, 15, 5
Find the median and mean travel times for these students.
If necessary, round your answers to the nearest tenth.

mean:9.7

median:10

mean;add all the numbes and divide by how many numbers are there(6)

median; list all the numbers from least to greatest and see which numbes is in the middle.

Explanation:

First you have to put the data set in order from least to greatest:

4, 5, 9, 11, 14, 15

The mean in a data set is all of the numbers in the data set added together and then divided by how many numbers are in the set:

4+5+9+11+14+15= 58 There are 6 numbers in the data set so divide 58 by 6:

58/6= 9.7

The median in a data set is the middle number which would be 10.
