Why did the United States remain neutral at the start of World War II?

because Congress passed many Neutrality Acts aiming to prevent future involvement in foreign wars

Answer:

The United States remained neutral at the start of WWII because they were technically still under the Monroe doctrine. They saw it as Europe's problem that Germany ignored the peace treaty. The only reason they joined WWII was because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and that was an act of war. They would have stayed out of WWII if Japan didn't bomb Pearl Harbor.
