Answer:

It was gaul, i took latin and i know quite a bit about this. today, gaul is called france. rome actually had a lot of regions under its control, but i know julius caesar is the one that brought gaul under rome's control.

caesar also never OFFICIALLY became dictator, even though he basically was. when it became evident that that was his goal and he wanted complete power, he was murdered.
