A circular garden has a circumference of 113 yards. Lars is digging a straight line along a diameter of the garden at a rate of 12 yards per hour. How many hours will it take him to dig across the garden? Use 3.14 for π and round the diameter to the nearest whole number, if necessary.

Answer:

It takes 3 hours to dig in the garden

Explanation:

first we have to calculate the diameter, for this we have to divide the length of the circumference by π

π = 3.14

d = diameter

d = 113yd / 3.14

d = 35.987yd

round the diameter to the nearest whole number

d = 35.987yd = 36yd

if the speed is 12 yards per hour and it is 36 yards we can calculate the time

(36 yd) / (12 yd/h) = 3h

It takes 3 hours to dig in the garden
