Explanation:

Basically, you have to first divide 35 and 8. What ever the first number you get, that will be the whole number.

Or another route is to do it in your head. You can see that 8 x 5 is 40, so it cannot be 5. But 4 does and that is the only number that can work.

So, the whole number will be 4.

Then, since 8 x 4=32, you have to subtract 35 and 32 to find the numerator.

35-32=3

The 8 stays as the denominator. So the answer will be
4(3)/(8)
