x^2 The "x" is where the base is, the "2" is the power/exponent of the base

The 3rd quotient:
((-4)^8)/((-3)^4) does not belong with the other three because it has two different bases of -4 and -3. [You can't combine powers/exponents if they have different bases.]

The other quotients have the same bases:


((-10)^7)/((-10)^2) same base of -10


(6^3)/(6^2) same base of 6


(5^6)/(5^3) same base of 5
