Is 3x+y2=5 a quadratic function?

Explanation:

To be a quadratic function the variable
x would need to be to the second power, like
x^(2).

If the
y term is squared it will form a parabola, but since the parabola would be sideways it would not be a function. A sideways parabola would have two outputs for one input.
